Therapeutic Support

Many participants receive funding for NDIS therapeutic supports under their NDIS plans. The term ‘therapeutic supports’ covers a wide range of therapies designed to assist NDIS participants to achieve their goals related to function and independence.

For example, you might need therapeutic supports for therapies that improve your ability to care for yourself, move around safely, and participate in your family, school, sport, workplace and community.

Therapeutic Support

What are the types of therapeutic supports?

Therapeutic supports typically include three categories under the Capacity Building Supports budget. Capacity Building Supports are available to help you develop skills and independence. These categories are as follows.
  • Improved daily living:Most therapeutic supports are funded under this category. It covers the support you require from therapists to be more independent, improve confidence and interaction, and be a part of the community.
  • Improved health and well-being:This includes the support you require from dietitians and personal trainers to improve and manage your health.
  • Improved relationships:This provides funding for developing social skills. It also includes funding for behavioural interventions.
